SLJ - Day One: Setting Sail
Dear Merika,
Kia Ora, we have reached this beautiful, beautiful country. When I come to take you here I must warn you, it's a bit of a crazy ride. Some herbalism will do the trick.
Although like I said it's wonderful here, just worried about some wild animals attacking. Luckily you gave me the pouwhenua.
Haere rā.
SLJ - Day One: The First Settlers
The facts the I learnt about Maui are...
1. Maui wants to go fishing with his brothers.
2. Maui tricked his brothers in order to go fishing.
3. In the end, Maui caught a giant fish.

Summer Learning Journey 2019-2019 Prize
For the 6 week holidays this year and next year the Senior Syndicate have decided to take a part in the "Summer Learning Journey". The SLJ can help us improve our writing and reading.
The SLJ can even help even more! When you have long holidays, like 6 week holidays you tend to forget what you have learnt all year. It just floats out of your brain.
Then when you go to school your math, literacy and writing knowledge levels can drop. You don't want that to happen, why? You'll have to study the same thing again and you'll be on the same level as you were before. You would improve but in my opinion, not much.
This years and next years SLJ topic is about "Sustainability".
Mr.Breach's class has focused a lot on being sustain, even the big book we're reading this week is basically about "Sustainability"!
Being sustain means you take care of the environment around you, if you're picking up rubbish regularly then you are being sustain. You are taking care of your environment.
By doing the SLJ I can learn more about the world we are living in. I'm utterly excited for the upcoming challenges ready for me.
If I win a prize while doing the SLJ I would like...some David Walliam books or an iTunes gift card.

The Mysteries Of Giza - Information Report
For Literacy these past few weeks we have been working on information reports.
We could have done a information report about the Giza or extreme weathers. I personally liked the idea of doing a report about Giza since people have a lot of conspiracy theories about the place.

For Inquiry lately we have been focusing on Health.
A topic can have many more ideas surrounding it. So as a part of our Health topic we're also focusing on Personal Hygiene.
This small animation is all about "How To Brush Your Teeth"

The First Time I Saw A Lion
About two years ago at my old school the Middle Syndicate, (Team Tui) decided to go on a trip to Orana
Park. We were mostly going to study the animals as part of our “Beasts Now Captured” research about
animals who had been locked up in cages at zoos.
The day was here and I was utterly excited! On a summer morning the bus appeared in the school car
park. I thought I was dreaming. I had been waiting to see a lion all my life.
The bus ride to the zoo was longer than I expected. Team Tui sang songs on the way but obviously we
got bored after a while. I saw fields of grass and paddocks with horses and cows on the way. I couldn’t
wait anymore!
After a hour or so we were finally there! I had never been more excited. As soon as we got there a lady
who worked there (let’s call her Lily) welcomed us and showed us where we would be eating morning
tea.
Afterwards when we had all finished eating we got split into groups. In my group we went to visit the
tortoise first. We went in the room near us.
Did you know..that a group of tortoises is called a creep?
My group all sat down and waited for the tortoise to be handed to us. The tortoise got handed to me last.
I loved him! His little black eyes had a tiny, tiny sparkle in them. Ah, I wish I had his eyes.
Finally, we got to where the lions were! Sometimes when you imagine a lion do you imagine a lion with
a mane? I do. These lions did not have manes because they were male lions and they would fight over
who’s was thicker and bigger.
The lions were laying down when we got there, they all looked lazy. I tried to find some cubs, but
unfortunately I couldn’t find any. They were with their mums in the other room.
Did you know..that male lions don’t hunt, the females do?
After that, all the groups got together where the otters were. I found my friends, we talked about our
favourite animals that we saw today.
I loved my trip to the zoo, especially seeing the lions. I’d love to go again and see different animals.
