Mindfulness Colouring Competition

                          Colouring Competition

In C.I.P today we focused on "Colouring Mindfulness".

What is Colouring Mindfulness?

Colouring Mindfulness is where you colour to relax and make your problems fade away.

In C.I.P we have decided to host a Colouring Competition for the other schools in Uru Manuka. The reason we are doing this is so everybody can enjoy something relaxing and creative to do. Down below I have some ideas of the drawings we could use.

I would like it to group three different levels. Easy, medium and hard. I have some ideas about what the drawings could be like.

(These drawings could also be for the different year groups at the other schools. For example, Year 1 and 2 get the Easy level, year 3 and 4 get the Medium level, and the year 6's get the hard level.

We will give the colouring sheets to the schools in the Uru Manuka Cluster which they can hand out to all the children.

Now, you might be thinking, "It's not fair since year 6's would be able to colour better than the year 1's or 2's" And that is correct. I have an idea where could have a budget for each year group. $5, $10, $15?

The kids will have at least 2-3 days to finish it since school is ending soon.

Organising
How will we organise this?
We will write letters or email them about the competition and how it works. If they agree to be a part of this we can then send the colouring sheets to them.

Needs vs Wants

Hey Bloggers! Today in period 2 we talked about "Needs vs Wants". What are the needs in order to survive and what are the wants of most people? In the DLO I made I answer these questions! Have a look.

My Passion!

Every Wednesdays we have CIP...but I already told you guys that in another blog post. On a Wednesday we also have our 'Passion Projects'. We get to pick if we want to do Singing, Rugby Academy, Dance, Kapa Haka, Basketball Coaching or Eco Warriors. You could pick as many as you want or you didn't have to pick one at all.

In period 3 we have Singing! I enjoy singing because it's just a simple way for me to relax. Listening to music can also help me relax.

Around November or December, the Singing group will be performing for 'Kids for Kids'! I'm really excited about performing even though I'm not the most confident person. Performing will help my confidence grow.

Singing in front of a crowd? Dream come true!
Anyways, during singing, we have a few songs we always play. Some of these songs are, "Te Wai Tuku Kiri" which is a waiata. "Little Do You Know" by Alex & Sierra, "You Are The Reason" by Callum Scott and "Lovely" by Billie Eilish are usually played the most. But, today, we play "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten, we sang it better than I expected to be honest! Sometimes we're out of beat, not in the right tune, it just gets quite complicated.

Fancy Trash

Bonjour!
Today is Wednesday, and what happens on a Wednesday? CIP!
CIP is the short form for 'Community Impact Project'
We are going to do murals made out of rubbish!
Our class has decided on Native Birds! So these are a few examples of what I would like the mural to look like:

Keeping Our Area Tidy

For CIP (Community Impact Project) the teachers have decided to focus on the Hornby/Hornby High School community.

The project is all about picking up rubbish and re-using reusable rubbish to make sculptures/art from it.

The purpose is to keep our area tidy at all times. And re-using waste is much better than throwing it in the bin because rubbish can fly out.

I think we're going to collect about 7+ bags of rubbish. Hornby High is a pretty big school. I don't expect anything below 7.

I think the most common rubbish colour is White. During my Eco Warrior duties I see a lot of white rubbish.

I would LOVE to create some type of sculpture! Or maybe even a clock.
